Set Fire To Your Own Rainbow
We are each given a choice,
At the fiery dawn of every day,
To sing with our heavenly voice,
Or to languish in despair’s run away.
The universe evolves in blazing pain,
Giving us a taste of happiness as a tease,
Letting us feel both sunshine and rain,
Seeing how joy comes with little ease.
Love, too, is a sword with two edges,
Filling our lives with beauty and wonder,
Made perfect with lifelong pledges,
But refined by daily doubtful thunder.
So every morning when you rise remember,
That you must do more than sit and listen,
You must sing to find your own vocal timber,
And your flower feel dewdrops to glisten.
So stand up to your highest height,
Becoming what your own dreams show,
Turn day into what you see in the night,
And set fire to your own rainbow.
