In The Lingering Taste of Tomorrow
Touching you for the very first time,
Will be more than a dream come true,
Like eternal winter dancing springtime,
There when my soul finally tastes you.
Like daisies come to reaching bloom,
The gentle promise of spring’s call,
Need floating on love’s sweet perfume,
Perfection woven in passion’s rise and fall.
Now every sunrise wakes me to your kiss,
Yet every hour crawls like painful years,
Fanning the flames of our someday bliss,
When destiny shall drench us in joyful tears.
You have stolen my heart in the night,
As my visions have joined us as one,
The stars turning promise from moonlight,
Truth from whispers in the morning sun.
Like the coals of a fire left burning,
Awaiting one kiss to rekindle flame,
I am trapped in this moment of yearning,
Ablaze in desire too ferocious to tame.
Soon we shall rise from yesterday’s fear,
Dancing in elation turned from sorrow,
But for now I am enraptured here,
In the lingering taste of tomorrow.
