The Castle - The Land of Dragonholm

Dragonholm Castle is the dream of kindred spirits that feel the desire to return life to a simpler time when community, self-sufficiency and environmental sustainability were a way of life.

Dragonholm Castle will include a completely self-sufficient medieval society including an authentic castle, a thriving village and the surrounding lands. Our friends and visitors will include members of various historical recreation groups, those interested in organic farming and preservation, as well as readers and friends that connect and agree with my beliefs in hope, love and community.

We are alarmed at the current global trend toward dependence on foreign energy production, corporate and utility exploitation and the dilution of the American living standard. Through our non-profit organization, Zero-Impact.net, we are determined to demonstrate the wisdom and viability of returning to a lifestyle that supports the earth, our community, our families and the very best in each one of us. We invite you to trade in the difficulty of the rat race for the beauty of the human race! Come join us and see how this is done. Zero Impact is dedicated to resource preservation, directed consumption, sustainable development, ecological disposal and recycling. Our membership is free and growing. Help us change the earth, one breath at a time. For more information, visit www.zero-impact.net

Please note that we are currently working to get Zero-Impact.net certified as non-profit. Ironically enough, it is somewhat expensive to do that.

We are now working on this section of the website to share our grand dream with others before we begin the actual construction of the castle, village and lands of Dragonholm sometime in 2006. We will begin with a large piece of property with experiments in gardening, sustainability, organic farming and community events. The castle and village construction will follow soon after.

In the meantime, for those who yearn for a time when your word defined your character, chivalry meant something, and everyone believed in magic, please enjoy the information we have gathered here and join us in realizing our dream. We have a lot of work to do and would be honored with your help.

Our first additions to this section will include images from Castle Kirk (our prototype castle already in existence here in California), a list of events and news relating to the castle construction and a list of the initial village craftspeople that we will invite to share the dream of a year-round medieval and site.

To get some idea of the lifestyle, fun and community that will occur at the castle, see the photos section of this site, or check the SCA.org website for more information on the Society of Creative Anachronism (see the links of interest section for additional relevant links).

Here is our initial list of craftspeople and businesses that will work well at the castle. We are currently seeking individuals to help research, develop and operate these types of businesses at the castle, as well as assist with a wide range of needs from research, to development, to the actual day-to-day tasks of managing a property. If you would like to be involved on any level, fill out one or both of the following questionaires and email it to us. We will be honored with your energy and your magic.

Celebrating the Dream
Here are a couple poems about our castle...

Our Beating Drum

I have a noble invitation for the princess in you,
To come see where a heavenly light is shone,
Where our greatest spirits come to renew,
Embracing the deepest peace we have known.

It is here behind the walls of our dreaming,
That we shall build a monument to community,
A place to make hope of all our seeming,
An altar of glory to our brilliant unity.

So raise with us your hands and light,
And dismiss aging forever alone.
Dance to share your gifted midnight,
As we raise our castle of stone.

When you ring the bell on the grand gate,
Speak friend of Dragonholm and come,
But prepare for passion and love irate,
As we tap out eternity on our beating drum.

Perfecting God’s Creations

When you come rapping at my grand door,
To gain castle entry and perhaps a bit more,
Remember the gifts you have been given,
Enter with grace and you shall be forgiven.

A kingdom of trusting love is ours to make,
A perfect tomorrow is ours to gently take,
As the world draws down, our walls come up,
In hope to see wisdom drawn from golden cup.

So bend with me in prayer to the mother land,
Step from spirit dream into our daylight grand,
Embrace tomorrow today in natural inspiration,
Soar on rising winds, perfecting God’s creations.

Please check back for more information. In the meantime, drop us an email if you'd like to be notified of updates and related events. Thank you for helping us fulfill this dream.

Find your passion. Follow it to your conclusion. Breathe. Laugh. Be.
