The Castle - The Land of Dragonholm
Dragonholm Castle will include a completely self-sufficient medieval society including an authentic castle, a thriving village and the surrounding lands. Our friends and visitors will include members of various historical recreation groups, those interested in organic farming and preservation, as well as readers and friends that connect and agree with my beliefs in hope, love and community. We are alarmed at the current global trend toward dependence on foreign energy production, corporate and utility exploitation and the dilution of the American living standard. Through our non-profit organization, Zero-Impact.net, we are determined to demonstrate the wisdom and viability of returning to a lifestyle that supports the earth, our community, our families and the very best in each one of us. We invite you to trade in the difficulty of the rat race for the beauty of the human race! Come join us and see how this is done. Zero Impact is dedicated to resource preservation, directed consumption, sustainable development, ecological disposal and recycling. Our membership is free and growing. Help us change the earth, one breath at a time. For more information, visit www.zero-impact.net Please note that we are currently working to get Zero-Impact.net certified as non-profit. Ironically enough, it is somewhat expensive to do that. We are now working on this section of the website to share our grand dream with others before we begin the actual construction of the castle, village and lands of Dragonholm sometime in 2006. We will begin with a large piece of property with experiments in gardening, sustainability, organic farming and community events. The castle and village construction will follow soon after.
Our first additions to this section will include images from Castle Kirk (our prototype castle already in existence here in California), a list of events and news relating to the castle construction and a list of the initial village craftspeople that we will invite to share the dream of a year-round medieval and site. To get some idea of the lifestyle, fun and community that will occur at the castle, see the photos section of this site, or check the SCA.org website for more information on the Society of Creative Anachronism (see the links of interest section for additional relevant links). Here is our initial list of craftspeople and businesses that will work well at the castle. We are currently seeking individuals to help research, develop and operate these types of businesses at the castle, as well as assist with a wide range of needs from research, to development, to the actual day-to-day tasks of managing a property. If you would like to be involved on any level, fill out one or both of the following questionaires and email it to us. We will be honored with your energy and your magic. For the Dragonholm Castle General Questionaire, click here. For the Dragonholm Castle Property Development Questionaire, click here. Contact us for more information, here. If you would like information about developments as they occur, drop me an email here with the title "castle friend" in the subject line. Coordinators and Developers We are seeking the following partners to help in the development of the castle dream. We have people involved already on many levels, so be sure to let us know about your interest and talents soon. Major partners will include experts including: Architect (more to come... Village Shops
